My other wish is that everyone would send a thank you card to a current solider or veteran. As a daughter of a vet, I know that thankful words from others means a lot.

Simply write a thank you letter or card to a current soldier and send to: Operation Gratitude, 17330 Victory Blvd. Van Nuys, CA 91406.
Or you can write to a Veteran and send to: Thank a Veteran, c/o Penny Alfonso, 1970 Rangeview Dr., Glendale, CA 91201.
You can send multiple letters in one envelope and they will be screened and sent out for you. You might even hear back from someone!

I absolutely love this idea - what a great post. My (late) grandpa was a purple heart and he would be overwhelmed when we (my sisters and I) would simply call to thank him on Memorial Day/Veterans Day. It's so easy to make a big impact. I'll be writing.
